  • SEA Club is non-governmental organization with the Registrar of Societies (ROS) in 2020.

  • In 2023, Pusat Jagaan Kelab Sokong Pekerjaan Autisme (PJKSPA) was registered with Jabatan Kebajikan Malaysia. The center is a project by SEA Club.

  • The primary function of SEA Club/PJSKPA is to facilitate a supported work environment that enables to persons with autism (PWA) to be engaged meaningfully at work.

  • The founding members are aware that other centers are available, but many are beyond the financial means of B40 families.

It is noted that there are organizations which are active and successful in connecting disabled persons to potential employers. Similarly, SEA Club is specifically designed to assist persons in the Autism Spectrum because ;

  • PWA need a sheltered workplace due to the nature of their disability.

  • They need supported employment where appropriate assistance and supervision are provided.

SEA Club hopes to create awareness within the local communities regarding the needs and abilities of people with autism.

The presence of the SEA Club itself with its ongoing activities will serve as a visible source for community awareness and engagement.

Adult Person With Autism (PWA) who have completed some form of vocational training lack suitable employment opportunities. As such best practices and skills gained during training can deteriorate significantly.

These PWAs, not being profitably engaged can regress progressively, not only in skills learnt but more importantly, in their general behavior.

For this reason, the Sea Club serves to bridge this gap between completion of vocational training and suitable employment. Supported employment is the way forward to bridge this gap.

Adult PWA, particularly those from B40 households are unfortunately unable to participate in Supported Employment work in cafes, bakeries or factories which accept PWA because of;

  • Lack of networking with job agencies,

  • Poor information.

  • Insufficient household income.

  • Transport issues

These PWAs end up being left idle at home  and not engaged in suitable activities. In circumstances like these their behavior is likely to regress progressively.

The SEA Club’s purpose is to provide supported employment at its premise where they are involved in productive activities.
